WAAAH!! I really really really hate it when I'm suddenly called on by a teacher to recite or read something in class, especially when I wasn't listening or wasn't in the least bit ready. I swear, when that happens, I think the blood freezes in my veins and stops flowing through my brain. I really go blank. T__T
For instance, my teacher returned a quiz and said that she'd be calling 3 random people to read their essays. As usual, when a teacher declares recitation, I get really nervous and spend the rest of the time forcing my heart rate down and keeping calm. (Really, this always happens, which is why I really dislike my law classes. Half the time I'm sitting on the edge of my seat and praying not to be called. -_-) Anyway, she started from the top of the class list, and then she called a second person whose name came after mine alphabetically. So I finally was able to relax, convincing myself that she had bypassed my name. So I started reading my test, comparing answers with my seatmates etc., i think I even spaced out a bit, enjoying my relief, when suddenly... she called my name. Considering I wasn't listening, and that I had my heart rate all calmed down and that I wasn't ready at all, the shock caused me to stare blankly at her and say "huh?". I think I heard one of my classmate wonder why I was so shocked, and all the while, my heart rate went into rapid escalation. From calm to panic, my poor heart no longer had the benefit of nervousness as a warm-up. -_-
And so when I stood in front of the class to read my short 5 sentence essay, my voice broke around 3 times and I sounded like I had just run a marathon before coming in front to read cause I had to keep breaking off for lack of breath. Hinihingal. I don't know why it happens, but it was so mortifyingly embarrassing nevertheless. I HATE PRESENTING/RECITING/MAKING SPEECHES! I'm a college student and I still can't handle essay reading. It's not like that was even really difficult. I'm truly pathetic. ---_____---
