Johnny Depp is a genius! I liked it, despite the fact that some people I watched it with insisted that it was a feel bad movie and that there were moments I couldn't bear to watch. :p But that was expected. For one thing, a newspaper article called Sweeney Todd a character out for retribution and not redemption. And that is just what he gets. ^^
The movie felt like it was sung more than it was spoken.. erm.. it had more songs than dialogue that is. But after you get used to it, you can't help but notice how nicely the songs were done. They had a lot of duets, and the blending was nice. I think this movie adds greatly to the fact that he's a very very versatile actor. :D
*sigh* I'm actually supposed to be studying, no surprise there, but I had to blog about it anyway. ^^
